Privacy Policy

Docognito does not collect, transmit, store, or sell any personal data.

Last updated: 26 July 2026

The short version. Docognito is a visual skin that runs entirely inside your browser. It has no servers, no account system, and no analytics. Nothing you type, upload, or receive is ever sent anywhere by this extension.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no data collection of any kind. No personal information, no browsing history, no message content, no usage statistics, no crash reports, no advertising identifiers.

What is stored, and where

Docognito saves your own settings using Chrome's storage API. That is the only permission it requests. The stored values are:

These stay in your browser profile. If you have Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome may sync them across your own devices. That is Chrome's own mechanism, and the data still never reaches us, because we operate no servers to receive it.

Where it runs

Docognito is restricted to three sites: claude.ai, chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com. It cannot read or modify any other website, because the browser only grants it access to those hosts.

On those pages it reads what is already on screen in order to redraw it as a document, and it types into the site's own input box on your behalf. All of this happens locally, in the page. Your conversations continue to go directly from your browser to Anthropic or OpenAI exactly as they would without the extension. Docognito does not intercept, proxy, log or alter them.

What it does not do

What it is not

Docognito is a visual privacy tool: it hides your screen from someone glancing at it in the room. It does not hide your activity from your browser history, your employer's device management, your network administrator, or the AI provider. It also does not modify, bypass or interact with any AI system's safety features, content filters or usage limits. It only restyles the page inside your browser.

Children

Docognito is not directed at children under 13 and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date. Because the extension collects nothing, a change would most likely mean a new feature, and any feature that involved data collection would be described here before it shipped.
